2nd SAM Online workshop for validation of skills needs in AM

The 2nd SAM Workshop gathered over 50 representatives from the Additive Manufacturing industry and research organisations towards the validation of skills needs priorities for the Sector, during the online event on the 27th January.

As the labour market demands for highly qualified personnel to apply AM technology is increasing, the identification and development of the required set of skills for AM professionals has become critical. In this context, SAM workshop addressed the following objectives:

  • Promote the awareness on SAM project results;
  • Start the collaboration with European Experts within the scope of the AM Observatory activity;
  • Discuss about AM skills needs, future Qualifications and Trends considered as priority to support the growth of the sector.

  • The project partners EWF and LAK were responsible for welcoming participants and for conducting the plenary session where The European Sector Skills Strategy for AM, SAM latest results regarding skills needs and gaps in AM and the 1st International AM Qualification System & the role of the AM Councils were presented.

    Finally, Paula Queipo Rodriguez, IDONIAL, and Martin Schaefer, SIEMENS, moderated the parallel groups sessions aiming at:
  • Defining the AM Designer for Polymers Profile for AM industry
  • Defining the trends and priorities for qualified personnel working in AM industry
